As one can imagine, there were a number of incredibly intelligent and creative thinkers whose work became the magical World Wide Web. There was Vinton Cerf (image right) and Bob Kahn (image left), who invented TCP/IP (the deep level programming foundation on which all other languages float upon). They both happen to be American engineers who are alive and well today.

TCP/IP is short for Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol and it is the underlying ability for various computers to talk to each other. In addition to partnering with Bob to develop the everlasting TCP/IP protocol which made all else possible, Vinton Gray "Vint" Cerf went on to invent email. Yes... we have an inventor of email, his name is Vint.
